Photo slideshow background

A photo slideshow background is visible when a picture (or pictures) does not cover the available space completely. Endless Slideshow Screensaver offers several picture resize methods and some of them leave parts of the background visible if a picture does not match the size of the available space (a monitor or a slideshow zone) perfectly. Here is a short video showing some of the background types available in Endless Slideshow Screensaver:

Selecting a background for your photo slideshow in Endless Slideshow Screensaver is very easy - open Endless Slideshow Screensaver settings and select the [ Slideshow ] tab, [ Zone background ] section:

By default, Endless Slideshow Screensaver uses a [ Solid color ] background type and you can select a different color by clicking your mouse on the [ Background color ] section.

The [ Gradient ] background type allows you to select 2 different colors along with the gradient direction (vertical or horizontal) to create a color gradient background:

[ Dominant color ] and [ Average color ] background types use the currently shown picture to calculate a dynamic background color - it will be different for every photo, unlike the above background types which stay the same for every picture.

The [ Static picture ] background type allows you to select an image file from your local or network drive and use it as a static background wallpaper for the slideshow. You can choose how this picture fits inside the slideshow zone using one of the options of the [ Style ] drop-down list. If you select the [ Center ] option and the background picture does not fit the slideshow zone size perfectly, then the color selected as the [ Background color ] will be used to fill uncovered background areas. Other [ Style ] options will cover the slideshow background completely.

The [ One shown picture, stretched and blurred ] option will use one of the currently shown photos (selected randomly) as a background. Endless Slideshow Screensaver will apply the selected level of [ Blur ], then adjust the [ Gamma ] by the selected value, and finally use the selected style to fill the slideshow zone background with the resulting picture completely.

If you are showing several pictures on every monitor, you can use the [ Every currently shown picture, stretched and blurred ] option. It works just like the one above, but every picture gets its own background created from that picture.

The [ Previous slide ] background type will create a beautiful "pile" of your photos after a dozen slides. In this mode, Endless Slideshow Screensaver will use the previous slide as a background for the next slide. This mode runs especially well when paired with the random photo positioning (available in the [ Media files positioning ] section of the [ Slideshow ] tab) and random angle photo rotation (available in the [ Picture rotation ] section of the [ Viewer ] tab).
